Mrs Weaver & the Hare

Mrs Weaver is an old woman who wants to weave a blanket of good stories to cloak the earth and keep it safe. The problem is she’s not a good weaver. She is also besieged by all the Bad Trouble Stories and too scared to leave her house to find the Good Trouble ones. She knows it's time to change. But how? Mrs Weaver and the Hare is a fable of woe and wonder, and how worry can be transformed into something more useful than despair. At turns mystical, philosophical and humorous, it draws on magic realism, puppetry, visual and physical theatre, music and song to enchant audiences and reimagine what the future could be.

Currently in development, Mrs Weaver & the Hare was staged as a work-in-progress in August 2025 at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre, presented as part of Dead Puppet Society's THE DPS LAB, an incubator program for developing new work. In December 2025 it was also adapted for Queensland Theatre’s Little Play Days, designed for 0-5 year olds and their carers. Ladyfinger has provided dramaturgy, devising & direction.
